[TESTING] Kodi 17 (Krypton) builds for Raspberry Pi (continued)

#741

Yes, so now either downgrade skin too, or just tweak the dpkg status file to mark it as installed. The other option is to wait until a new version is published; probably in the morning.

The file is /var/lib/dpkg/status.

#742

What do i need to change in that file?

#743

Have a search (I think I covered it recently), you just need to mark the skin and dependencies as installed.

I would honestly just recommend waiting. My repo will update soon, so you can grab a fixed skin from there. I’ll let you know when.

#744

I would definitely wait. However, I can’t boot into OSMC right now… It loops

#745

That is an unfortunate consequence of trying pre-release software. I will let you know when a new version is ready.

#746

You can now grab the updated skin from my repository. Use dpkg -i to install it and then apt-get -f install to resolve.

wget http://apt.osmc.tv/pool/main/m/mediacenter-skin-osmc/mediacenter-skin-osmc_4.1.1-1_all.deb -O mediacenter-skin-osmc.deb
sudo dpkg -i mediacenter-skin-osmc.deb
sudo apt-get -f install

I’m not sure what level of stability you need / are expecting with these builds but it may be a good idea to stick with the stable release in future.

I have not had a chance to test this myself yet. Please confirm the new skin works as expected.

#747

Perfect. I’m not expecting much, just want to test the latest and greatest

#748

You would probably be better off testing the official Krypton builds, instead of these. There are some differences, and the official builds are more of what will be included in the final version of Krypton. These builds have some more experimental changes that may take a longer time to get in to the next version of Kodi.

#749

Skin 4.1.1-1 has been uploaded which fixes the issue.

#750

Thanks @gmc

#751

Hi All,

I’ve just tried the latest test build and noticed a problem using my USB RF Remote (August PCR450), for some reason I’m unable to get any of the buttons to respond, yet if I change it to “cursor” mode, I have a cursor on screen and it appears to be OK.

I’ve tried using the keymap add-on and that doesn’t detect any key presses.

I’ve reverted back to the stable build from an SD image, I’m happy to provide more information, although not sure what would be relevant in trying to figure out what is going wrong.

Many thanks

#752

Hi thanks for that lovely description of what went wrong, but as we are not clairvoyant yet we are going to need debug logs to actually do something about it.

So i do really recommend you to actually read

https://osmc.tv/wiki/general/how-to-submit-a-useful-support-request/

Cheers Toast

#753

I was a bit hasty in reverting back to the stable version, I’ll have a go at installing the update again and let you know the logs. I’m surprised no one else has experienced this issue, being as it’s simply a PnP remote; I thought it may have been a setting I’ve overlooked?

#754

remember debug logs, normal logs is useless.

#755

Here is the log file http://paste.osmc.io/fugarewiqi.vhdl

Just a quick summary off what I’ve performed: From restart, attempted to press numerous keys on remote, then switched to cursor mode, navigated through a couple menus, switched back, press some more buttons.

I’ve used Yatse to stop debug towards the end.
