[TESTING] DVB improvements for Vero 4K

#43

I’ve updated via My OSMC and I’m now on 3.14.29-68-osmc.

Plugging my DVB-S USB-device into the Vero4k results in these journalctl lines:

Mär 17 12:38:04 fernseher kernel: usb 1-1: new high-speed USB device number 2 using xhci-hcd
Mär 17 12:38:04 fernseher kernel: usb 1-1: New USB device found, idVendor=0ccd, idProduct=0105
Mär 17 12:38:04 fernseher kernel: usb 1-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
Mär 17 12:38:04 fernseher kernel: usb 1-1: Product: TERRATEC USB Tuner
Mär 17 12:38:04 fernseher kernel: usb 1-1: Manufacturer: Tevii
Mär 17 12:38:04 fernseher kernel: usb 1-1: SerialNumber: 000000031

dmesg | grep dvb prints nothing, lsusb says Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0ccd:0105 TerraTec Electronic GmbH, but tvheadend doesn’t see any adapter.
Rebooting doesn’t help. At least no kernel crash anymore

But these errors might be helpful (or are totally unrelated :stuck_out_tongue: )?

Mär 17 12:38:04 fernseher systemd-modules-load[176]: Failed to find module 'amlvideodri'
Mär 17 12:38:04 fernseher systemd-modules-load[176]: Failed to find module 'meson-ir'

Update: no change with kernel 3.14.29-68-osmc

(systemd-modules-load didn’t fail now, so meson-ir got loaded now)

Cheers

#45

I’ve now pushed some fixes for the video playback and remote fixes. This does mean that some DVB improvements had to be reverted; but we will resume the testing for this again shortly.

In the interim, I’d recommend updating, as this will restore some DVB functionality

Your kernel needs an update.

#47

No change for me with 3.14.29-69-osmc (so, the same as what I wrote above for 3.14.29-68-osmc).

#48

DVB-T2 is not possible again in this update, as it breaks so many other things.
I will resume the testing for this in a couple of days.

With 69 SD channels came back :grinning:

#50

It appears that the latest update to Linux OSMCVero 3.14.29-69-osmc means that DVB-T service has returned with just the one adapter showing in Tvheadend:

Progress, of sorts…

Hi

That’s correct.
We had some problems with the update over the weekend so had to revert some things. We will update this thread over the next couple of days.

#53

Any news @sam_nazarko. A couple of days are long gone.

#54

Last I heard, with media-build there’s an issue with meson-ir. Still being worked on.

#55

Any realistic estimation when the OSMC-stick will be fully working with Vero 4K?

Yesterday I (again) tried it with latest Ubuntu installation, which works out of the box after manually copying the firmware file to the setup. Thus, I would expect it can’t be that difficult to get it also running with the legacy kernel.

#56

It’s very difficult to do it without breaking things. We will revisit it shortly.

#57

Any news on the DVB-T2 integration? Is it something to be tackled again within the next (April ?) update?

#58

Not sure yet. This thread will be updated when we have some progress

Sam

#59

It took a while, but I believe this is now resolved.
I’ll make a testing post shortly.
